So we have arrived in Nicaragua!!! And me saying it's hot here is an understatement! Our team consists of 10 girls 4 boys and two leaders 1 girl and 1 guy, and we are all bonding quite well. Now let me tell you about one of our first cultral expirences here. A couple of us were just outside kicking the ball around. And walking down the street come 3 little boys asking if they could play. So we let them play with us. Then came 5 more, the 6 more, then 2 more, and eventually we probably had about 40 people playing the intense game of soccer with mounds of grass and dirt pulled from the sidewalk as goals on a street that has a decent angle and with a few potholes. But it couldn't have been more fun. The town we live in is called Granada. Everything is pretty much with in walking distance. The guys house is about a 2 min walk, the central park is about a 5 min walk and the grocery store and market are about a 7 min walk. So even though generally speaking it is a good size town it still has that small town feel to it. About two nights ago we were getting ready to cook dinner. Now apparently can openers are really available down here, so we were contemplating how to open up tomato sauce. So i went to go ask the neighbor. She ended up having a can opener but it didn't fit. At that exact moment that we were realizing that it wasn't going to work a guy walked up and asked for a knife so she went and got one. And with his superman strength he opened that can up in about 2 seconds. I just thought it was so cool how God can provide for you in that last second of giving up or frustration. Other than that we have just been trying to learn the city make connections and understand the culture. I thank you all so much for your support. And i'll try to get some pictures up soon. BYeeee!!!!
