So we are almost a month into camp already.  Wow that's going really fast.  For those of you who don't know i'm working at Pictured Rocks Camp in Monticello. And i can't beleive it but we are already a month into camp.  The camp i had this week was Splash Camp.  They were all 1-3 graders.  And i would have to say that it was one of the best camps i have done.  At first when the campers arived none of them wanted to do bible study.  But somewhere in the time from the first bible study to the 2nd and last they had gotten the urge to actually want to particpate in the bible study.  It was just such a cool expirence to see how God had transformed these little kids minds in less than 24 hours.  One of my campers in that camp had an aunt who lived in Cedar Rapids.  Her house was hit by the flood.  The amazing part of this story was that we have a prayer concern board in the dinning room, and nobody had wrote any prayer concerns on the board yet.  But on the last day he asked me if he could write that up there.  That to me is absoulutley inspiring.
Last week i  had the opportunity to go and work in Cedar Rapids for flood relief all week.  We have mission groups that come to camp and stay for a week.  I got to take about 30 adults and senior high to that area.  You don't expect to see stuff like that happen to the places 15 minutes away from your house.   You don't  expect that water can do that to someones house.  On one of the days about ten people from the work group and me were working on a house.  This lady was probably in her 60's.  The thing that absoulutley amazed me about this lady was her attitude.  In the past year her husband had passed away and her daughter had had brain cancer, which she never truly healed from.  Also you put on top of all her personal problems but now her house was completly trashed.  Her basement was filled withe water from the floor to the ceiling.  On the main level of her house she had seven feet of water.  So pretty much the only thing worth saving was her light fixtures.  Although she had a second floor with her room and clothes up their, there is going to be almost nothing worth keeping just because of the awful smell.  Another thing was that on the day that the water was aproaching her house the police gave her  two hours to get her and some belongings out of her house.  When this happened it was an mandatory evacuation, so you either left peacfully or you were forced to leave.  So you can only imagine how hard that it would be to leave a house you've lived in for most of your adult life, and only have a few minutes to do it.  Well while we were taking everything out of her house, we found bags full of costumes.  As it turns out she used to be in all kinds of plays and is currently and belly dancer teacher.  So she decided that she needed to give us a lesson on belly dancing.  So in the midst of all these things that are going wrong for her.  She still managed to find some happiness.  In the midst of pretty much all she owned being thrown on the curb of her house she managed to still have God in her heart.  She was a wonderful person with a great attitude and it's amazing and inspiring to me that she can be so strong after something so awful.
